This is an ADVANCED training course, with direct instructor interaction will continue to build upon the fundamentals instructed and presented during the OPOTA Private Security Firearms – 20-hour course. 

Topics covered in this course: 

- Use of Cover and Concealment

- Situational Awareness

- Clearing Malfunctions

-  Conducting Magazine Swaps Under Stress

- Tactical Accuracy

- Use of Verbal Commands

- and Much, Much More!

All drills will be conducted using the duty gear an officer wears everyday and will incorporate techniques from the holster. 

Required Equipment:

- Duty gear suitable for duty

- Proper firearm, suitable for duty (sub-compacts will not be allowed)

- Minimum of 3x magazines

- 200 rounds of target ammunition

- Proper eye, ear protection and a ball-cap

- It is STRONGLY suggested to wear personal body armor

Individuals who complete this course will receive a Certificate of Completion for 5x formalized training / contact hours and will allow an individual to retain this certificate for their record of training. 

This ADVANCED handgun training course, under direct instructor interaction, will continue to build upon current fundamentals using an individual’s duty firearm, but will add the use of a handheld tactical flashlight.  Too often in the law enforcement / contract / private security industry, rarely are the training courses focused on the use of such a valuable tool.  

With two out of three of our shifts being conducted in low or dim lighted environments, TRFTA has develop this training course that will specifically focus on the use of a handheld tactical flashlight.  All drills will be conducted using the duty gear an officer wears everyday but will add techniques using a handheld tactical flashlight.
