TRFTA "Big 3" - Less Lethal

Individual training courses are sometimes too costly for students who seek the additional training certifications, and many times decide to go without.  Because the only thing that is regulated in the State of Ohio for contract security is primarily firearms, sometimes individuals choose to carry less lethal items while on-duty and not properly trained to use and could potentially cause serious injury setting up for civil liability if used incorrectly.

TRFTA has taken the best of the 3 major additional tools security officers can utilize before they possibly use a deadly force option, we call it our “Big 3” class.  This course presents, at a very basic operator level training in proper use of extendable baton, tactical handcuffs, and mace/OC. 

It should be noted that the “Big 3” offered by TRFTA is a vendor neutral course.  This means that the products used during training, while are heavily from specific manufactures, are what they are, it does not limit the students to using only one particular brand over another.  

This course, while shortened as compared to FULL individually presented courses, is still a physically demanding course.  Students should be prepared to move quickly and access equipment from their belts during said practical times.  Each student is only required to wear proper training attire with a sturdy belt for the PROVIDED equipment to be placed on the individual’s waist for use during training.
