In June 2022, the State of Ohio enacted what is called "Constitutional Carry" which allows residents of Ohio who are 21 years old, clean criminal history the ability to carry a concealed handgun without obtaining an Ohio Concealed Handgun License or "CHL Permit".
This has caused some confusion among individuals wishing to exercise this new ability in Ohio. Should an individual who does NOT have an Ohio CHL and crosses into another state that happens to also have constitutional carry in their state, would technically be in violation of that state's law by carrying a concealed handgun. Should that same individual obtain an Ohio CHL, that individual would NOT be in violation of state law crossing into another state that recognizes Ohio CHL's carrying a concealed handgun.
