TRFTA is looking for individuals who are interested in joining a GROWING training organization who are currently certified OPOTA REQ instructors.
OPOTA has a number of different regulations that define instructors......as instructors. To be a specific OPOTA Academy Instructor / Private Security Trainer an individual MUST attend the 80 hour OPOTA Instructor Development course AND the 40 hour OPOTA Firearm Platform Instructor Development course.
OPOTA REQ certified individuals are those who are currently commissioned police officers, who have ONLY attended the 40 hour specific firearm platform discipline certified by OPOTA as firearms instructors, and can train and certify individuals at the law enforcement level.
Because of this, on an OPOTA Private Security range, to maintain 1:5 instructor/student ratios, a certified REQ individual can serve as a Range Safety Officer to ensuring safety.
Minimum Qualifications:
MUST already have completed the OPOTA 40 hour specific firearm platform instructor development course and have ALREADY been assigned an REQ number from OPOTA.
MUST be willing to work together as a TEAM amongst a diverse staff of instructors and willing to not only contribute but receive a different way of presenting / thinking / way of doing things.
MUST be willing to "do-as-we-preach" with students and participate in a variety of extracurricular shooting events, competitive matches and/or training courses for continued professional related training.
MUST be willing to obtain NRA Basic Pistol Instructor to be able to present civilian CCW or other related courses NOT OPOTA presented by TRFTA.
